Can you tell us about the choice of tiles used in the Bowentown beach holiday park? What factors influenced your decision inselecting these particular tiles?
In the kitchen of the cabin, we opted for the Kayoboard White Finger tile, while for the bathroom, we selected the Hida White Matt tile, both sourced from the latest Japanese collection. What drew me to these choices was the unique handmade organic quality of the tiles.

What inspired the overall design aesthetic of the Bowentown beach holiday park, and how do the tiles contribute to this aesthetic?
The setting of the bungalows heavily influenced the design theme. Situated within a holiday park, it was crucial for the bungalows to reflect a tranquil and rejuvenating atmosphere, a place where guests could unwind and recharge. While prioritizing relaxation, we also aimed to inject elements of fun, incorporating vibrant pops of colour to enliven the space. To enhance the interior, the bungalows were lined with plywood featuring negative detailing. Introducing tiles served to introduce a different texture and finish, effectively breaking up the plywood surfaces. The speckled appearance of the tiles provided a striking contrast to the matte plywood, creating a distinctive focal point.
Did you draw inspiration from any particular sources or styles when designing the tile layout for the Bowentown beach holiday park? If so, what were they?
Numerous design decisions were made during the tile
layout planning. A significant amount of consideration was dedicated to the
finishing of the tiled rangehood to ensure the desired overall appearance. This
entailed forgoing the tile trim and meticulously aligning the tiles with the
negative detailed ply, ensuring they were flush. We are grateful to the skilled
tradies for their excellent work there. Additionally, we chose to partially
tile the bathroom wall. Given the bathroom's narrow dimensions and high pitched
ceiling, it was imperative to prevent overcrowding. The partially tiled wall
achieved an ideal balance in this aspect.
How do you ensure that the tiles chosen for the Bowentown beach holiday park complement the coastal surroundings while also reflecting the style of the property?
The natural essence of the Japanese tiles, along with the flecks dispersed throughout, harmonizes beautifully with the coastal surroundings. When combined with the plywood walls, it instills a sense of tranquility within the space.
Lastly, how do you envision the tile design of the Bowentown beach room house contributing to the overall experience and enjoyment of the space for its occupants?
The Beach Bungalows stand out from conventional holiday park cabins, as they have been meticulously crafted to elevate the standard of accommodation. The seamless integration of tiles with other materials fosters a feeling of harmony and tranquility, which is passed on to the guests.
