TREND ALERT: What's HOT in bathroom tiles for 2026?

What we’ll be seeing more of in bathroom tiles next year (and loving every second of it)

Bathrooms are no longer just functional spaces — they’re becoming one of the most design-forward rooms in the home. As we head into 2026, we’re seeing a beautiful balance of natural materials, playful details and elevated classics. From timeless stone to statement floors, these are our top bathroom tile trend predictions for 2026.

  1. Besties don’t copy, they match!

Small but mighty, stone square mosaics are proving they’re not just a passing trend. These little cuties are here to stay — and we’re seeing them used in smarter, more seamless ways.

One of our favourite looks?

Pairing a square stone mosaic on a half wall with a matching 60×120 or 60×60 tile below or alongside it. The result is a cohesive, high-end finish that still has a bit of fun and texture. It’s subtle, stylish and perfect for adding interest without overwhelming the space. Our favourite tile picks to achieve this look is our Arctic Tundra or Yacht Range.

  1. This is what I wanted, the Pastels!!

Coloured square bathroom tiles are having a moment, and it’s easy to see why. Soft shades like blush pink, sage green, powder blue and warm lilac bring a sense of calm and warmth into a space, making them perfect for bathrooms, kitchens and laundries. Unlike bold colours that can feel overwhelming over time, pastels add personality in a subtle, timeless way. They work beautifully with natural materials like timber, stone and brushed metals, allowing homeowners to introduce colour without committing to a full statement look. Whether used as a feature wall, splashback or decorative detail, pastel tile colours offer a fresh, modern way to personalise a space while keeping it light, inviting and effortlessly on trend.

Our Plimepaplika, Surfaces and Asta range are our favourite pastel picks for this trend.

  1. Travertine, But Make It Pop

Travertine tiles have been a favourite bathroom tile for years now— and in 2026, they're not going anywhere. What is changing is how we’re using it.

Think:

  • Travertine mosaic bathroom tiles
  • Ribbed and fluted textured bathroom tiles
  • More variation and depth

We’re elevating the travertine tile looks we’ve loved in previous years, adding detail and tactility while keeping that timeless, spa-like feel. It’s still calm and natural — just with a little more personality.

We are swooning over our I Travertine and Cocoon Travertine Beige for this trend, so much texture!

  1. Taj Mahal Moves Into the Bathroom

We’ve watched Taj Mahal stone explode in kitchens, and now it’s officially making its way into bathroom tiles!

With its soft veining and warm neutral tones, Taj Mahal is perfect for:

  • Feature walls
  • Glamorous floors
  • Full-height shower linings

It brings a sense of luxury without feeling cold or clinical — ideal for bathrooms that feel refined, calm and considered.

  1. Japandi

In 2026, it’s all about warmth and authenticity. Handmade and handmade-look tiles with organic edges, subtle imperfections and rich glazes are continuing to grow in popularity. We are obsessed with our new Yoko range, which are subway tiles that include sleek lines mirroring the beauty and symmetry of Origami!

These tiles add:

  • Depth and movement
  • A softer, more human feel
  • Serious charm

Perfect for feature walls, shower niches or vanities, this trend is all about embracing character and texture over perfection.

We love our Yoko range, Wabi-Sabi and exclusive Japanese range from Academy tiles for this trend.

  1. Funky Floors Are Back

Bathrooms are getting bolder underfoot. Fun floors are making a strong comeback, with:

  • Checkerboard layouts
  • Patterned tiles
  • Graphic and decorative designs

A statement floor is an easy way to inject personality into a bathroom — especially when paired with simpler wall tiles. It’s playful, eye-catching and a great way to make your space feel truly unique.

  1. Welcome to the Dark Side

Light and bright will always have a place, but in 2026 we’re seeing a strong move towards dark, moody bathrooms that feel bold, luxurious and cocooning.

Black, browns and deep charcoal tiles are being used in clever, layered ways — think:

  • Darker wall tiles paired with textured finishes
  • Black stone-look tiles with subtle veining
  • Dark floors teamed with warmer tones like timber, brass or travertine

The key to this trend is contrast and balance. When done right, black bathrooms feel dramatic yet inviting, creating a space that’s perfect for unwinding and switching off. It’s a confident look — and one we expect to see more of in high-end residential and boutique commercial bathrooms alike.
