Medley Grey Rock and Yubi Cloud

How would you describe your design style and approach?

We built a holiday home with friends. The design brief for this home was luxe mountain house, as it’s our ski pad and summer Lake Huse. It’s a place where we get away from the city, we reconnect with our families, and hang out with friends so we wanted it to be open, spacious, and relaxed, but with beautiful and sustainable design at the core.

What was your inspiration behind the design concept?

We each have our own bedroom wings for our own families, where we were able to have our own unique personality show. In my family bathroom, I wanted to have a bit of fun and be a little playful, as I'm generally a fun kind of gal. I didn't want to go too feminine, as I have two guys in my family, so I partnered pink with black, white, and grey for a bit of yin and yang balance.

What led you to choose our tiles for this project?

Our home is pretty relaxing and earthy, but I wanted to people to walk into our bathroom and be a little surprised… I have this weird enjoyment when things aren't all matchy matchy and are a little different. Not in a wild crazy way. I walked into Tile Space and instantly went to the medley range. I loved it!

Were there specific features or qualities of the tiles that influenced your decision?

The Medley Grey Rock is a large 600x600 porcelain tile, which has an enlarged Italian style terrazzo print, with a dark grey base and large black and white marble style chips in a matt finish. It’s fun, and it’s classy - I've always loved terrazzo, but this enlarged print with giant terrazzo shapes stood out to me as it is kind of zany and crazy. I knew I wanted that tile.

Wrapping the tile on the floor and shower walls up onto the ceiling and pairing it with a simple mosaic finger tile Yubi Cloud. I paired this with an Oak Laminex vanity using a subtle pink paint called ‘soothe’ to work with the soft pink grout used for the mosaic.

Using a fun wiggly mirror I found, paired with a pink concrete basin on a stunning Caesarstone bench top that has a rose tint in it, and copper tapware which all ties in beautifully. It’s fun and beautiful.

Did the tiles play a specific role in achieving the overall aesthetic you were aiming for?

Absolutely. I wanted my bathroom to be beautiful and fun, to show a little bit of my personality. Almost everyone who visits our Lake House and sees the bathroom says, “This is so you”. I love it.
