Take The Tiles Outside

Get your outdoor area summer-ready with porcelain tiles, the ultimate option for outdoor use. Unlike other materials such as wood, natural stone and cement, porcelain tile is not porous and therefore it does not absorb liquids. This means that it does not stain or crack and it does not require surface treatments or special maintenance. It's frost resistance qualities will stand the test of even the harshest of conditions.

Have peace of mind knowing that your outdoor space will be fuss-free. A great advantage of porcelain tile is that it doesn't support moss, mould or mildew making it a low-maintenance option. Porcelain tiles are some of the longest-lasting flooring products on the market today. They are incredibly hardy and durable, very resistant to scratching, staining and wear and when properly installed they’ll look as good in 20 years as they do today.

What kind of tile can be used outdoors?

Porcelain tile is the perfect choice for outdoor use. At Tile Space we have a full range of exterior tiles in different colours and sizes. The difference between indoor and outdoor tiles is the grip/texture on their surface that assists them in resisting slips. This surface can be a little gritty, as this provides excellent traction if the surface gets wet, however it does result in a finish that accumulates dirt and will naturally require deeper cleaning than indoor tiles. Indoor-outdoor flow is a common theme, allowing for extended space and perfect for entertaining. We have a number of ranges with both indoor and exterior finishes such as Peggy Andy Cement, Mark Pearl and Lombarda Grigio below. Continuing the same tile offers a seamless appearance between spaces.

While wood is known for being high maintenance, Timber look tiles are a great alternative for decks. They look traditional, won't go out of style and hold all the qualities of porcelain. We have a large range of timber look tiles including the Etic Collection from Italy pictured below. Available in five classic colours and sizes 150x900 and 225x900 the range provides a complete solution, with both indoor matt finish and outdoor grip finish.

Deck Jacks by Nurajack are a great way of creating a feature deck with outdoor tiles. Deck Jacks are a self-levelling pedastal system, which allows tilers to install the tiles at the level of the interior floor, for a seamless indoor/outdoor flow which is extremely hard wearing thanks to the thick porcelain tiles and elevated access as the water can run in between the tiles to the membrane below. The tiles are not glued or fixed, so to access the membrane you can simply lift up a tile and replace it again later. To read more about Deck jacks Click Here.

What design do they come in?

Outdoor tiles come in a variety of shapes, colours and sizes and take on the look of natural materials such as stone, marble and timber. As digital print technology advances, manufacturers are producing tiles with unique pattern and less repeat. Global Italian companies put more money towards research, design and production. This results in a tile that is well thought out, has a more accurate design and is an excellent replica of the natural material.
